Transparency in Data
PlayVero’s Cookie Protocol

This document isn’t a dense legal block. It’s a clear record of how our digital environment tracks your session, personalizes your experience, and respects your privacy—explaining the ‘why’ behind every byte we store.

The Cookie Taxonomy: Classification & Function

Not all cookies are equal. We classify them by persistence and origin to give you precise control over your digital footprint on PlayVero.pro.

Essential Cookies (Strictly Necessary)

These are the load-bearing pillars of the site. They manage your session, keep you logged in, and remember your security preferences. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality—like a game save that fails to write.

  • Session ID tokens for login state
  • Security tokens for form submissions
  • Load-balancer routing for performance

Functional Cookies (Preference-Based)

These enable enhancements that tailor the experience. They remember your language, interface theme (light/dark), or collapsed menu states. Opting out reverts you to default settings, but the site remains functional.

  • Interface theme selection
  • Language preference storage
  • UI layout state (collapsed/expanded)

Analytics Cookies (Performance & Insight)

Anonymous, aggregate data that helps us improve. We track which pages load slowly, what features are used, and error rates. No personal identity is linked to this data—it's purely for engineering refinement.

  • Page load time metrics
  • Feature engagement (e.g., 'Download' clicks)
  • Non-personal error reporting

From Click to Storage: A Traceable Path

Understanding the lifecycle of a cookie demystifies the process. This sequence outlines a typical session visit, showing where data is created, stored, and when it expires.

1

Initial Request

Your browser requests a page. No prior state is assumed.

2

Server Response

Our server sends HTML, CSS, and a Set-Cookie header for a session ID.

3

Browser Storage

Your browser stores the cookie in local memory. Subsequent requests include it automatically.

4

Expiration & Clearance

Cookies have a defined lifespan (e.g., 24h for session, 30 days for preference). They auto-delete or can be cleared via the consent tool.

Annotation: The critical security layer happens at step 2. We issue a unique, random session token. This prevents session hijacking and ensures your gameplay state is isolated.

The Engineer’s Memo: Constraints & Trade-offs

Policy isn't written in a vacuum. These are the real-world technical limits and decisions that shaped our approach to cookies.

Constraint

Third-Party Library Dependencies

Our studio analytics and embedded support chat require specific third-party cookies to function. While we limit their scope, total isolation is impossible without breaking critical support channels. The trade-off is functional transparency over total data isolation.

Trade-off

Performance vs. Granularity

A cookie-less site would be faster on initial load but would lose session state and personalization. Our implementation aims for a sub-200ms delay for essential cookies—a benchmark we monitor per-session.

Decision Criteria

Mobile-First Lifespans

On mobile, storage is limited. We set session cookies to 12 hours on mobile devices (vs. 24h on desktop) to prevent cache bloat on devices with <4GB RAM. This is determined by device-user-agent detection.

What Changes Our Mind

Player Feedback

If beta testers consistently report lost progress on mobile, we will adjust session lifetimes. If browser privacy updates (like ITP) block our functional cookies, we will rewrite the backend to use server-side sessions instead.

Your Settings Are Live

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time. Changes take effect immediately on page reload. The interface is accessible via the footer link or during your initial visit.
